I went to Compostela Valley Province yesterday for a very important event. During the three-hour ride, I was thinking about a Hollywood actor and envisaged our meeting in a most unexpected circumstance. I was daydreaming this the whole time, and hoped that some kind of magic would happen when I arrive at the place.
But, instead of bumping into this guy, this is what I found:
This is the exact spot where the dead body of Grecil Buya was found hours after she was killed by the military on March 31, this year. One of her slippers was still there — a piece of message that says, here lies an innocent child who was killed in her very own yard, by the supposed protectors of the citizens.
Just imagine, a nine-year old girl, killed using a high-powered rifle. She was accused as a member of the New People’s Army…
Is this real? pano nila nasikmura to kill such an innocent child? damn those military men who killed the said child!

re Grecil, yes, tinuod ang nahitabo. first statement sa military after the incident was, gibaril nila ang bata kay she was aiming her rifle “daw” at them. meaning, nakigbakbakan pud daw ang bata sa ila. imagine? 9-yr old, makakarga og M16 rifle? ang baril halos kasintaas lang daw sa bata..
then, later, nag-retract sila (the mil) sa statement, kay the child was caught in the crossfire daw.
i was told that the police in New Bataan, tagged Grecil as a communist terrorist member of the NPA. result ni sa ilang investigation ha. while ang result sa military investigation stated that the child was on the side of the government. ang result sa CHR investigation if I remember it right, stated that the child was a non-combatant and was caught in the crossfire.
